11 November 2015 C.E.

We will be doing a Mendelian Genetics exercise on 16 November. In addition to reading Chapter 17, you should print and bring the Mendelian Genetics Problem Set. The problem set will not be due on that date, but you should have it with you. Thanks.

02 November 2015 C.E.

My office hour for Monday 09 November has been canceled.
30 October 2015 C.E.

Let's make Mini-Report 4 due at 23:59 on 19 November 2015 C.E.

15 October 2015 C.E.

There is a misprint in Ken's laboratory schedule, and I carried that misprint over to my syllabus. There is no handout to accompany the Respiration exercise. As usual, you should carefully read the appropriate part of the manual before attending the laboratory session. In this case, it's Chapter 12 of the manual. But there is nothing that you need to print, and there is no PDF to read. I'm sorry for the confusion.

13 October 2015 C.E.

I originally set the deadline for Mini-Report 3 as the start of class on 19 October. But I won't be able to grade them right away, anyway, so feel free to take until 05:00 AM on Friday 23 October. Be sure to carefully read the comments in the PDF's I attached for Mini-Report 2, be sure to follow the general instructions in the description of the mini-reports, and be sure to look at enough real journal articles to be able to emulate the style of writing for the various sections.

25 September 2015 C.E.

Now that the mini-reports have been graded, it's very important for you to return to Blackboard and download the attached PDF to see the comments before writing your next report. Enjoy the weekend.

02 September 2015 C.E.

In addition to the instructions for the mini-reports (already posted), you should know that any figure(s) must be incorporated into the one-page limit. Also, no figure may be hand-drawn.

28 August 2015 C.E.

As of the time of this posting, there is one student who is receiving zeroes for not submitting the Rules Consent Form. Are you one that person?

18 August 2015 C.E.

The syllabus has been changed slightly. Make sure you use the one that was updated 18 August 2015 C.E..

12 August 2015 C.E.

Greetings.

Welcome to BIO181 Laboratory. I will be your instructor only for the laboratory portion of this course. Your lecture instructor is in charge of your overall grade. I will give your scores to your lecture instructor at the end of the term. Your lecture instructor will probably use Blackboard. For various reasons, I am choosing to use my own website (this one) for the laboratory component of BIO181. You are required to check these announcements daily throughout the semester, and any announcements that appear here will be official. It is a good idea to take a few minutes right now and familiarize yourself with this website. You should also take a look at the global site to see whether there is anything that might be helpful to you in any of your courses. For instance, the global site features a link to my BIO181 lecture site (under MCCCD Courses), where you can find links to my lecture recordings and slide shows. It would be silly not to at least take a look to see what's there that might help you.

I'll see you soon.

Ty

Be sure to IMMEDIATELY read and submit the Rules Consent form. This is also strictly required.
